Det internasjonale skøyteforbundet (ISU) har organisert verdensmesterskap på skøyter siden 1893. Fra 1889 til 1892 ble det arrangert uoffisielle mesterskap. På grunn av verdenskrigene ble det ikke arrangert VM i årene 1915–1921 og 1940–1946. I 1940 og 1946 ble OSKs internasjonale løp på Bislett kalt «uoffisielt VM».

NATO is part of these Organizations and lists the monthly A2 salary as 5,102.13 Euros (annual 61225,56 Euros) and the monthly A4 salary as 7,315.62 Euros (annual 87,787.44 Euros)
